This 8-point Proto® 1/2in. Drive, 3/4in. SAE Impact Socket is used primarily for square plugs and similar fasteners typically found on older equipment, such as pipe plus, lag bolts, heavy equipment, and more. Also ideal for use on stubborn or damaged fasteners and fasteners made from soft materials. It has a black oxide finish to help resist corrosion. The TorquePlus? design is a high performance drive configuration which allows for quick and easy socket engagement to the fastener flats, not the corners. The TorquePlus configuration employs a radius-corner design, shifting contact area and stress away from the fastener corners and distributing contact stresses over a large area of the socket, minimizing slippage.
