Mahr Federal 814 SR Digital Height Gauge and Scribing Instrument, 24″ Measuring Range, 0.0005″ Resolution
The Mahr 814 SR Digimar series height measuring gauge and scribing instrument measures in 0.0005″ (0.01 mm) increments and has a 24″ (600mm) measuring range. It has a battery-operated LCD display with 1/2″ (12mm) height digits and built-in functions for measurement, and has MarConnect data output for use with USB, RS-232, or Digimatic interfaces. The gauge has a heavy-duty base for stability and a stainless steel slide and beam with lapped contact surfaces for smooth movement. It has a hand crank with a fine adjustment for positioning the scribe. This height measuring gauge has a replaceable carbide-tipped scriber point and is suitable for use in measuring heights and distances and in scribing and marking work pieces.
Height gauges, sometimes referred to as gages, are precision measuring instruments that travel on a vertical column (also called the beam) to measure and/or mark the vertical distance from the base of an object in fine units. The vertical position of the gauge and its attached pointer are changed by turning a calibrated screw, or one or more feed wheels. Recorded rotations are read from a scale, a dial, counters, and/or an electronic display. A screw clamp holds the pointer to the gauge. The pointer is typically sharpened to act as a scriber, and can be used to mark a position on a workpiece by scratching its surface. On compatible units, the scriber may be replaced by an electronic touch-signal probe. Height gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering.
Mahr Federal manufactures dimensional metrology instruments and metering systems. The company, founded in 1861, is headquartered in Goettingen, Germany.
